FAQs
A number of frequently asked question from Driveways and Patios by Andrew Jerdan Contracts Ltd are presented below:
Do I need planning permission?
Not necessarily. You will not need planning permission if your new driveway uses permeable or porous surfacing which allows water to drain through. This includes gravel, permeable concrete block paving or porous asphalt, or if the rainwater is directed to a lawn or border to drain naturally. If the surface covered is more than five square metres planning permission will be needed for laying traditional, impermeable driveways that do not control rainwater running off.
How long does an driveway or patio last?
Driveways and Patios from Andrew Jerdan Contracts Ltd are guaranteed for 5 years for workmanship. The Tobermore products the company use have a 25 year colour guarantee.
How much maintenace does an driveway or patio require?
A minimum amount of maintenance is required on all path and driveway surfaces. It may be that once a year you just wash your driveway down using a pressure washer;
Will drainage be a problem??
Drainage is a serious issue and many cowboy driveway fitters will get it wrong. When we install a driveway or patio we take into account where the rainwater will go and install a soakaway if necessary..
Can driveways and patios be layed all year round?
